You've found the job of your dreams. You've written and sent the best resume and cover letter possible to your prospective employer. It's one week later and ... you haven't heard a thing.

It's time to follow up. But how? What kind of letter or email should you send after applyingfor a job and not getting called for an interview?

While there's no one letter that will work for everyone in every situation, you can use the one below as an example of how to"re-apply" for a job and restate your enthusiasm.

Dear Employer,

I am writing to ensure you received my resume, mailed December 14, 2000, as well as to re-emphasize my strong desire to work for you.

I am extremely impressed with the outstanding products and customer service offered by your organization. The Blake Brothers Corporation is exactly thekind of company I want to contribute to as a Store Manager.

In my present retail management position, I developed a set of standardized operating procedures that reduced training time for new hires by two days, while greatly increasing the efficiency of store operations. This program, to be adopted regionally, isexpected to save our Tampa store $45,000 by year's end.

My recently completed Associate's Degree in Retail Management, done while working full-time, gives me the academic training to bolster my five yearsof real-world experience.

I look forward to hearing from you soon, and will call your office this
Thursday to answer any questions you may have. Thank you for your time and consideration.

Persistence pays. If you send a letter like this, an employer will think
twice before discarding your resume.

I recommend you also find out the name of the hiring manager and call him or her with a polite follow up to THIS follow up, to further demonstrateyour enthusiasm and desire for the job.

Best of luck to you!
